Người chụp sử dụng các thiết bị phát sáng như đèn pin, đèn LED... vẽ một hình thù tưởng tượng trong bóng tối và chụp lại bằng chế độ phơi sáng dài để tạo nên những bức tranh ánh sáng khiến người xem phải trầm trồ.
Các tác phẩm này được chụp về đêm với thời gian phơi sáng dài (Long Exposure), đóng khẩu độ và ISO 100.
